Logo for the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Tournament at Biola University
The president of the ESports Club at Biola University came to me asking for help making a logo for their Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Tournament called “Jericho.” The tournament is open to the local Smash community, but had no visual representation to help it become an established, known tournament. I came up with some rough sketches based on the title and platform of the event, then talked with the client about what direction they wanted to go. We decided to go in the direction of the crumbling wall imagery derived from the name, combined with the well-known cross symbol of the game’s own logo. Below are the 8 original rough sketches as well as variations working toward the final logo, a more dynamic, 3-D logo with the important information represented. We added a “bob-omb” for the last final touch to pull it all together. This logo has become a visual identifier for the local Smash Ultimate community.
